SPACING: The distance between contiguous buildings along a blockface.

RECOMMENDED

New construction should reflect and reinforce the character of spacing found in its block. New construction should maintain the perceived regularity or lack of regularity of spacing on the block.

NOT RECOMMENDED

Avoid the creation of large open spaces where none existed historically. Such spacing is uncharacteristic and establishes holes in the traditional pattern and rhythm of the street.
