I am the President of Herron-Morton Place Association and am writing regarding the recent story your channel ran regarding Herron High in a Bad Neighborhood. The neighborhood is highly offended by the mischaracterization of the place we call home. The story referred to our neighborhood as crime-ridden without any supporting data. I would request an accurate portrayal of Herron-Morton Place, which is a true community where neighbors know one another, organize Talbott St. Art Fair together, host a Home Tour in approximately 2 weeks, a place where business executives, nurses, doctors, and lawyers live in historic homes and new $500-600k homes, a place where a neighborhood cleanup is being held this very Saturday at 10 am in the park.
These things are news, not the sensationalistic story that Channel 6, who claims to be "on our side" has chosen to report. This story is not only inaccurate, but irresponsible to the progress that Downtown Indianapolis has worked so hard for.

I am extremely disappointed in your sensationalistic and one-sided reporting of Herron-Morton neighrborhood being "drug-and prostitution-ridden" in connection with the reporting of the Herron High opening. Herron-Morton is a fine old neighborhood and one that is in the process of new building and renovation at an astounding rate. You did not interview any of the neighborhood citizens or HMP board members for the story, but chose instead to interview one resident of Penn-Arts Apartments, which is not even technically in the Herron-Morton Neighborhood.

As a fifteen-year resident of the Herron-Morton Neighborhood, I am one of
the hundreds of us who are flabbergasted by your story that is now available on the RTV website. We have no idea what precipitated your report, but are really shocked that such a negative report was even broadcast. Yes, as in all neighbors, there can be some crime here, but your report makes it seem that Herron-Morton is THE site for crime. This neighborhood is thought of as one of the most sought after in the downtown area, for its historic architecture and for its diversity of people.
