The Herron-Morton Place Foundation, Inc. and the Herron-Morton neighborhood will host its semi-annual home tour on Sunday, September 10, 2006 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. The home tour will showcase ten homes in Indianapolis’ fastest growing historic and vital neighborhood. This year’s tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Home Tour, the 20th anniversary of Herron-Morton Place’s historic designation, and the 30th anniversary of the Herron-Morton Place Association.

This year’s theme The Places We Call Home, celebrates the architecture of Herron-Morton Place, from dignified Victorian-era homes to innovative new construction. As the former home of the Herron School of Art and the studio of T.C. Steele; the current home of Epilogue Theatre, Footlite Musicals and the Talbot Street Art Fair; and the future home of Herron High School and Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, Herron-Morton Place continues to hold a dynamic place in the historic fabric of Indianapolis.

Herron-Morton Place is bounded by 16th Street on the south, 22nd Street on the north, and the alleys west of North Pennsylvania Street and east of Central Avenue. The neighborhood boasts beautifully preserved and restored homes that reflect many architectural styles, including Queen Anne, Italianate, Tudor, Arts & Crafts, Cottage, and Colonial Revival. Additionally, with the renewed interest in downtown living, Herron-Morton Place is experiencing tremendous growth in terms of new residential construction.

Tickets are $10 the day of the Home Tour and will be available at each home on the tour as well as at the Herron-Morton Place Historic Park at 19th and Alabama.
